So yesterday was World Mental Health Day: October 10th. I genuinely didn't believe in something like mental peace, saturation, or mental well-being and things like such. Rather I felt it was all hoax. Something which is not real. I regret. I regret cuz people never explained its importance to me. At least my school was more inquisitive and interested to catch people who are dating and mingling around rather than explaining certain things like the essence of mental well-being, sex education and why there are numerous stigmas attached to both. As far as sex ed was concerned, I don't have any qualms in saying that I was not made aware of the importance of sex or physical intimacy in one’s life, what are do’s and don’t when it comes to one’s pleasure until little time back. Because sex is not about just going around hooking up with people around, it is something to be dealt with attention and interest. I was a person who also didn't resort to any other means like pornography to understand it. So I had no other means but to rely on my most-trustworthy people whom I call ‘real friends’ to get the needed knowledge on it. I must say there is a huge sense of shame attached to both. What is most needed in one’s life, I believe is peace of mind. When you are not at peace, you tend to see experts who can help you feel mentally better. This is supposed to be treated as a normal behavior in one person. Reaching out to such experts just to improve your wellness is not wrong rather it is a step you take to discover one self. It might even result in making you a more enhanced person. Mental wellness is real and it needs the equal attention, just like any other physical health issue. Reach out..Always reach out to someone whom you feel is accepting, non-judgmental and ready to lend their ears at your disposal! Sometimes having such few people to talk to and listen can be the biggest privilege ever one can have!
